Free trials

How trial periods work, why a card is asked for, and what happens when a trial ends.

Paid plans may come with a trial period, shown on the plan card as Free trial until … when it applies to you.

How it works

You start the trial from Website → Billing by choosing the plan. A card is required but nothing is charged until the trial ends; you can cancel before that.
During the trial the website has every limit and feature of the plan.
One trial per account. If you have used a trial on any website, later subscriptions start paid straight away.

When the trial ends

With a valid card on file, the first payment is taken and the subscription continues.
If the card was removed or fails, the subscription ends and the website returns to the Free plan. If the site then exceeds Free limits, it is paused until it fits or you resubscribe; see Upgrade, downgrade and overages.

You receive an email a few days before the trial ends.

Cancel a trial

Open Billing → Payment method & invoices and cancel the subscription. It stays active until the trial end date and is not charged.
