Work experience
Roles with company, dates, location and a short summary, shown on your Work tab and emitted as structured career data.
Work experience is the backbone of the Work tab. Each entry is a role at an organisation with proper dates, so the section reads as a timeline and search engines receive it as worksFor / alumniOf data.
Add a role
- Open Content → Work experience and click Add.
- Fill in the role and the company. Either pick one of your company profiles (the name then links to its page and shows the logo), pick a profile a colleague shared with you on their Mezaic site (listed under Shared with you, or found with Find a company shared on Mezaic), or type a name and, optionally, the company website.
- Add the location and the dates with the month and year selects. Tick ongoing for your current role; the end date is disabled.
- Write a summary: two or three sentences on what you did and what changed because of it.
- Save.
Entries are ordered newest first on the site. Reorder, hide or delete them from the list.
Linking to a colleague’s company
When a company profile is shared by another Mezaic site (your employer’s founder, say), you can link your role to it instead of maintaining your own copy. Your entry shows their name and logo and links to the company page on their site; when they update the profile, your entry follows. Linking is available on every plan; only publishing a shared profile depends on the owner’s plan.
You see a shared profile in one of two ways. If the owner invited the email you sign in with, the company appears under Shared with you in the picker, no search needed. If the owner opened the profile to anyone on Mezaic, you find it by typing its name under Find a company shared on Mezaic. Profiles you were not invited to do not show up at all.
If the company’s page has a People section, the form offers Show me on the … page. Tick it and you appear there with your photo, role, dates and a link to your site, either right away or once the owner approves, depending on their setting. Untick it, hide the entry or make your site private and you disappear from the list. The owner can also hide you.
If the owner stops sharing, or takes your email off their invite list, your entry keeps the company name and website as plain text until they share it with you again. If they delete the profile, the link is removed and the plain text stays.
Dates
Dates are structured (year, or year and month), never free text. That is what lets Mezaic compute durations, order roles correctly and emit valid ISO dates in search markup. Roles saved before a field became required still render; you will be asked to complete them the next time you edit.
Tips
- Lead with outcomes (“cut onboarding time from 3 weeks to 4 days”), not responsibilities.
- Keep one entry per role, even at the same company. Promotions tell a story.
- Link roles to company profiles when you have more than one thing at a company (a role, a product, an award); the company page then collects your whole history there.
