Subscribers
Collect email subscribers with double opt-in, let readers choose topics, and email them about posts, products, journeys, updates and announcements.
Subscribers turns your site into a small newsletter. Readers subscribe from a box at the bottom of your pages, confirm by email, pick what they want to hear about, and get an email when you publish something in those topics. Emails are sent from Mezaic on your behalf, with replies going to you.
Turn on the subscribe box
- Open Publish → Subscribers.
- Switch on Subscribe box. It appears at the bottom of every public page: all home tabs, the archive, posts and journey pages.
- Optionally set the text above the box (for example “One email a month, no spam”).
How subscribing works
- A reader enters their email and picks topics (all are selected by default).
- They receive a confirmation email that repeats their choice. Nothing is sent to them until they click it (double opt-in).
- Confirmed readers can change topics or unsubscribe from a preferences link in the footer of every email; one-click unsubscribe headers are set for mail clients that support them.
Spam protection (a hidden field and rate limits) is built in.
Topics
| Topic | Emailed when |
|---|---|
| New posts | You publish a blog post with Email subscribers ticked. |
| New products | You add a product with Email subscribers ticked. |
| New journeys | You start a journey with Email subscribers ticked. |
| Updates | You post an update with Email subscribers ticked. |
| Announcements | You write an announcement on the Subscribers page. |
The box only offers topics your plan can send; a plan without journeys shows no New journeys chip. Readers who subscribed before topics existed receive everything.
What gets sent, and when
- Emails go out in the background shortly after you publish, in batches. They are sent as “Your name via Mezaic” with Reply-To set to your contact email, so replies land in your inbox.
- Each item is emailed at most once. Publishing, unpublishing and republishing a post does not resend it. Imported posts are never emailed.
- Announcements are short Markdown messages with an optional button, for news that is not a post: a launch, a talk, a sale. Up to five a day. Their archive and send history are on the Subscribers page.
Manage your list
- List with status (pending or active), search and 30-day growth.
- Export CSV including each subscriber’s topics.
- Import CSV for a list you bring from another tool. You must confirm these people opted in to hear from you; imported addresses are added as active and do not receive a confirmation email.
- Subscribers are included in your site export and backups.
Limits
The number of subscribers depends on your plan (the Free plan includes 100). See Plan limits. When full, the box tells new readers the list is currently closed.
Troubleshooting
A reader says they never got the confirmation. Ask them to check spam and to use the Resend button shown right after subscribing. Confirmation emails come from Mezaic’s sending domain, not from your address.
“This form has expired.” The subscribe form carries a time-limited stamp against bots; a page left open for hours needs a reload.
My post did not email anyone. Check that Email subscribers was ticked before publishing and that you have active (confirmed) subscribers in the New posts topic.
