Journeys
Document one long-running goal on a public timeline, from the first day to the finish, with dated milestones, wins, setbacks and lessons.
A journey is one goal followed over time: launching a company, writing a book, running a marathon, learning a language. Each journey has its own page at /journeys/your-slug with a header, a stats strip and a chronological timeline that reads like a story.
Create a journey
- Open Publish → Journeys and click New journey.
- Give it a title, an address (slug), a tagline, an emoji and a start date. You can backdate the start.
- Optionally write an introduction in Markdown and add a cover image.
- Choose a status: Ongoing, Paused, Completed or Ended.
- Save. The journey page is live, and a Journeys tab appears on your profile as soon as you have one visible journey.
Tick Email subscribers when creating a journey to tell readers subscribed to New journeys.
Post updates to the timeline
On the journey’s page in the portal, the composer adds entries:
- Date: today by default; you can backfill the past.
- Type: milestone, win, setback, lesson or note. The type colours the marker and feeds the stats strip (wins and setbacks are counted).
- Headline: optional, one line.
- Body: Markdown, up to 20 KB.
- Image: optional.
Each entry shows its Day N since the start, and the year is labelled where it changes. Edit or delete entries from the same page.
Status and the closing marker
The end of the timeline reflects the status: Ongoing shows a pulsing “Still going”, Paused pauses it, Completed and Ended close the story with the end date and total duration. Change the status and end date under Journey settings.
Manage journeys
The Journeys list lets you reorder, hide or show and delete journeys. Hidden journeys are not on your site and leave the sitemap. The Journeys tab position is controlled in Settings → Profile sections like every other tab.
Which plans
Journeys are a plan feature. Without it, journey pages return “not found” and the tab disappears; your entries are kept and come back when you upgrade. Hidden caps: 50 journeys per site and 1,000 entries per journey.
Tips
- Start the timeline with the honest first day, even if it is years ago. The “Day N” counter is what makes the page compelling.
- Log setbacks. A journey with only wins reads like marketing.
- Journey pages emit structured data and are in your sitemap, so they can rank for the goal they describe.
