Glossary
The words Mezaic uses, briefly defined.
A to Z
Address / handle: the part before .mezaic.me in your free address. Set at sign-up, changeable in Settings.
Apex domain: a domain with nothing in front of it, like yourname.com (as opposed to me.yourname.com). See Custom domains.
Announcement: a short message emailed to subscribers of the Announcements topic, written on the Subscribers page.
Canonical URL: the address search engines treat as the original of a page. For posts first published elsewhere, set it in the editor.
Content item: one entry in a résumé section: a role, a degree, a product, a repository, a skill group, a talk, an award or a testimonial. Plans limit how many you can have.
Double opt-in: a subscriber must click a confirmation email before receiving anything.
Export: a downloadable archive of your whole site. See Backups, export and import.
Featured link: a link rendered as a large card at the top of its group.
Journey: one long-running goal documented as a timeline on its own page.
Landing mode: the Links tab is first, so your address opens on your links.
Module / tool: one part of the portal (Blog, Links, Analytics, …). You choose which are shown under Features.
Overage: anything on your site that a cheaper plan does not allow, listed before you downgrade and while a site is paused.
Paused site: a site whose subscription ended while it still exceeds the Free plan; visitors see a “site paused” page until it fits or is resubscribed.
Portal: the admin area at mezaic.co/app where you edit your site.
Primary domain: the address your site is canonical on; every other address redirects to it.
Pro badge: the crown marker on a tool your current plan does not include.
Retention: how far back analytics data (or daily backups) is kept on your plan.
Section / tab: a part of your home page (Blog, Links, About, Work, Journeys, Updates), ordered under Settings → Profile sections.
Spotlight: a prominent card under your header. Up to six.
Topic: a category a subscriber chooses to hear about: new posts, new products, new journeys, updates, announcements.
Update: a short post of up to 300 characters.
Verified domain: a custom domain whose DNS record points at Mezaic; only verified domains get a certificate and serve your site.
