Companies

Profiles for the organisations in your story (employers, schools, your own startups, award issuers), each with a public page that collects your history there.

A company profile gives an organisation its own page at /companies/slug, with a logo, facts, links and your history with this company: the roles, education, products and awards you linked to it. Visitors get context; search engines get an Organization node that your worksFor and alumniOf data point at.

Create a company

  1. Open Content → Companies and click Add.
  2. Enter the name and, optionally, the legal name, tagline and a Markdown about.
  3. Add the website, a logo, the industry, the kind (Startup, Public company, Non-profit, University, Government, …), size, founded year, headquarters and status (Active, Acquired, Closed).
  4. Add specialties, a ticker if listed, a contact email and social links (LinkedIn, X, GitHub, Crunchbase, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Wikipedia).
  5. Save. The page is live and a Companies grid appears on your About tab.

You can also create a profile inline from a role, degree, product or award form: start typing the company name and choose Create profile.

Link content to a company

In Work experience, Education, Products and Recognition forms, the organisation field is a picker. Choose a profile, or type a plain name and website for an organisation you do not want a page for. When a typed name matches a profile you already have, the form suggests linking it.

Linked items show the company name as a link with its logo. If you rename a company or change its logo, every linked item follows; if you delete a company, the items keep the name as plain text.

Share a company with other Mezaic sites

If colleagues also have a Mezaic site, they do not need to retype your company. Open the profile and, under Other Mezaic sites, tick Let other Mezaic sites link to this profile. Sharing is off by default and is included in some plans (see plan limits).

Then choose who can find and link it:

  • Only people I invite (the default). Add the email address each colleague signs in to Mezaic with. Nobody else can find the profile, so it never shows up as a suggestion for people who have nothing to do with the company. Invited colleagues see it under Shared with you in the company picker as soon as they add or edit a role, without searching. If they already have a Mezaic account they get a short email; if not, the invite starts working the moment they register with that address. Your own other Mezaic sites always see your companies without an invite. You can invite up to 100 people per company and remove anyone at any time.
  • Anyone on Mezaic. The profile can be found by searching its name in the company picker (Find a company shared on Mezaic). It is never pushed at people who did not search for it. Use this for open source projects, communities and large employers where you cannot know every colleague’s email.

Once shared with someone:

  • They pick the profile and their entry shows your company’s name and logo, linking to the company page on your site. Typing a name that matches the profile also suggests it directly, if they are allowed to see it.
  • The name, website, logo and page address stay in sync on their site whenever you edit the profile here. Nothing is copied that you did not already publish on the company page.
  • Their entry counts under linked from N other sites in your list. It does not count as one of your entries and does not appear in your own history section.

You can stop sharing at any time, switch back to invite-only, or remove someone from the invite list. Their existing entries keep the company name and website as plain text and lose the link to your page; if you share it with them again, the link comes back on its own. Hiding the profile from your About tab has the same effect while it is hidden. Deleting the profile detaches every entry for good.

The People section

A shared company can list the colleagues who linked a role to it. Set People section on the company page to:

  • Off: no list (the default).
  • Show everyone who asks: anyone who linked a role and ticked Show me on the company page appears, unless you hide them.
  • Only people I approve: requests wait for you. You get an email for each one and approve or hide it from the profile editor.

A person only appears while their entry is visible, their site is public, neither their account nor their website is suspended, they are still allowed to link the company (invited, or the company is open to anyone) and your plan includes shared companies. Each card shows their photo, name, the role and dates, and links to their site. Current roles are listed first. The page’s Organization markup lists current colleagues as employee nodes.

From the other side: when a role is linked to a shared company whose People section is on, the role form shows Show me on the … page. Tick it to ask; the form tells you whether you are listed, waiting for approval, or hidden.

Limits

Up to 100 company profiles per site and 100 invited emails per company. Logos count against your storage. A company page lists up to 48 people.

Tips

  • Create profiles for the two or three organisations that come up repeatedly in your story; use plain names for the rest.
  • Your own startup deserves a profile even if it has no employees. The page becomes a small landing page with your products and journey.
  • Share the profile of a company you founded or run, switch the People section on, and the page doubles as a team page that your colleagues keep up to date from their own sites.
